Yogi has had a storied career as one of the greatest catchers baseball has ever known. When he takes the field for the 1963 season, his time with the Yankees will have spanned a club record 18 seasons. With 2,084 games played, he will very likely surpass Lou Gehrig's team standard of 2,164.
In 1947 Yogi hit the first-ever pinch-hit home run in a World Series game. Since then he has set many Series records, including most games (74), most hits (71) and most RBIs (39). The three-time American League MVP has hit 305 home runs as a catcher, tops on the all-time list.
While continuing his playing career in 1963, he will join the Yankee coaching staff.
