1962 Back-O'-The-Card: Jim Hegan

 Joining the Yankees midway through the 1960 season, Jim serves as bullpen coach and catching instructor. In his playing days, the former Indian did most of the catching for the Tribe's pennant winners of 1948 and 1954. Jim was highly regarded by such Indian pitching stalwarts as Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn, Mike Garcia and Don Mossi. He was behind the plate for no-hitters from Feller, Lemon and Don Black.

1962 Back-O'-The-Card: Jake Gibbs (1962 Rookie Card)

"Jake stands an excellent chance of winning a regular job with the Yankees after only half a year in organized ball. Joining the Richmond farm club late last year, the bonus youngster impressed everyone with his classy performance at the plate and at third base.
In college Jake was an All-American quarterback at Mississippi."

1962 Back-O'-The-Card: HOT CORNER GUARDIANS: Billy Gardner, Clete Boyer

"The New York Yankees have two of the slickest infielders in baseball in Billy Gardner and Cletis Boyer. 
Billy came to the Yanks in a swap with the Minnesota Twins last year. He had been a regular with the Baltimore Orioles for four years and in 1957 led the American League with 644 at-bats. The infielder started in baseball with the New York Giants.
Cletis joined the New York organization in 1957 in an 11-man trade with Kansas City. Capable of playing third base or shortstop, Cletis has shown he has one of the strongest throwing arms in baseball. He tied a World Series record in 1960 by batting six times in a nine-inning game. Clete continually thrills with his exciting fielding."

"The Yankees acquired the veteran middle infielder from the Twins during the middle of the 1961 season. Billy played with the New York Giants in 1954 and 1955, before joining Baltimore in 1956.
He had the top fielding average among American League second basemen in 1957. In 1959 he led AL second basemen in double plays."
