1963 Back-O'-The-Card: Gary Blaylock (Harlan Yankees)

Signed by the Cardinals in 1950, Gary went 23-6, 2.61 ERA, 248 K in 248.0 IP for Johnson City of Class D Appalachian League, followed by 13-9, 3.20, 123 K in 177.0 IP for Omaha of Class A Western League.
In 1958 Gary had his best International League season, posting 14-10, 3.21 with 154 K in 213.0 IP for Rochester. After making his big league debut with Cardinals in '59, Gary was claimed on waivers by the Yankees in July of that year. In his first full year in the Yankee chain, was 12-13, 4.55 with 105 K in 178.0 innings for Richmond.
Gary triumphantly concluded his playing career by going 4-0, 0.45 ERA in nine games, all in relief, with 17 K in 20.0 IP for the Yanks' Class A Fort Lauderdale club. He now starts his managing career with the Yankees' Harlan, Kentucky, club of the rookie-level Appalachian League.
