"Dale was bought by the Yankees in mid-1960. He was drafted by Washington last December. Dale holds a record with home runs in eight consecutive games."

"A powerful slugger, Dale is always a terror to the pitchers. The first sacker set a record with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1956 when he smashed homers in eight consecutive games. As a pinch hitter in '59 he hit two consecutive homers.
Dale led the Pacific Coast League in 1953 when he clouted 35 round-trippers and batted in 135 runs."

1962 Back-O'-The-Card: Phil Linz (1962 rookie card)

With Tony Kubek in the Army, Phil will be competing with Tom Tresh for regular shortstop duty with the Yankees this year. Just as capable of playing at third base or second base, he could take over at third if Clete Boyer becomes the shortstop.
Along with his defensive prowess, Phil's hitting has improved impressively during his progression through New York's farm system. He followed his .283 at Auburn in 1958 with .298 at Modesto in '59, .321 at Greensboro in '60 and .349 at Amarillo of the Texas League last year.
