YANKS CHAMPS AGAIN!
Casey Stengel Makes It Seven World Championships
Milwaukee, October 9, 1958 - Casey Stengel, one of the great managers of all time, today guided the Yankees to a 6 to 2 victory over the Braves, and another World Championship.
In his 10 years as manager, the New York Yankees have taken nine pennants and seven World Championships. For five straight years, 1949 through 1953, they took the World Series.
Casey is famous for his 'two-platoon' system, which describes the way he uses substitutes to get the best advantage of any game or situation. He is uncanny in the way he relieves tiring pitchers, and nobody uses pinch hitters as successfully as Casey. Stengel, a real leader of men, is popular with his players, the press, and the public alike."
