"After a fine season at Richmond in 1958, Cletis gets his chance with the parent Yankees this year. He will be battling strong competition for New York's regular shortstop berth.
With the Virginians he was the top-hitting right-hander and as a shortstop was untouchable. He led International League fielders in putouts, assists and double plays.
Cletis' brother Ken plays for the Cardinals."
