"Tom returned to the Yankees in 1954, after losing a season and a half during which he was in the Army. His 32 appearances were just about equally divided between starting and relief appearances. Tom won 11 games and lost 5 and his earned run average was 3.34.
He began in baseball in 1949 with Ventura. The next season he was with Binghamton and finally, in 1951, he was with Kansas City. After appearing in four games for them, the Yankees brought him up- and Tom had a 9-3 record. In 1952, he won 5 and lost 4 for the half-season he played ball."
