FRANK LEJA
"A prize big league prospect, Frank signed with the Yankees just prior to the 1953 season for a sizeable bonus. A slugging first baseman, he has been likened by Yankee scouts to the immortal Lou Gehrig when Lou came out of Columbia University.
Frank first attracted the attention of the big league teams with his hitting at Holyoke High School. Frank got big league bids the day he was out of high school. MARLIN STUART
"Marlin pitched in 29 games in 1951, won 4 and lost 6, and his earned run average was 3.77. He hurled a total of 124 innings, gave up 119 hits and 71 bases on balls [1.53 WHIP], and struck out 46 batters.
He began in 1940 with Mayfield in the Kitty League and first came into the majors during the 1949 campaign."

A former semi-pro star, Marlin entered organized ball with Mayfield in 1940, winning 14 and fanning 186. In '42, he won 15 for Springfield and spent the next three years in the Armed Forces. With Little Rock in '48, he had a 15-10 record and got a trial with the Tigers."
